Clinics

Helping people and horses build a better relationship.

Why Clinics?

Mark believes that being the best person we can be is our responsibility to our horse, our family and friends our neighbors and the world.  With our horses, we are their employer. It’s our job to be the best boss we can. We should make sure we take care of our horses not only now, but their future. We should invest in their education so that when they are old they have the skills and experience necessary to ensure they are well taken care of.  We also should advance our education in how to be the best manager of our horse. This is where Lyon horses focuses its expertise.

The reviews speak for themselves

Mark brought out of me the inner horseman just dying to get out but couldn’t because of a few hangups, like going on longer trailer drives by myself, as Mark said to me on a trip I made with my husband Rob, Dana you need to put on your big girl pants and drive here by yourself next time:) and my thought was no way but you know what the very next lesson I came by myself and Mark said, I like the way those big girl pants fit and the rest is history now I go everywhere by myself and I Love it, they gave me the confidence I needed, not only with driving my trailer but with riding more horses too.” I could go on and on about all they have done for me so just let me say that they are a true blessing to anyone who wants to learn more about horses and horsemanship!!!!!!

Attended Mark’s Mustang gentling clinic, colt starting clinic, trail obstacles and private lessons while he was in Montana. Hands down one of my new favorite horseman! Kind, knowledgeable and full of good stories, jokes, tips, tricks and “horse magic!” Highly recommended!

#integrity and #character as well as a great way of communicating in a way that each individual can clearly and usefully understand. Humor and stories also count for an absolute 10 out of 10 for excellence! Real results!

Attended his colt starting clinic this last weekend and enjoyed it thoroughly. He gave some very practical help and direction. Just took my girl on her first official ride outside the arena and she did amazing. My daughter also loved the day she was part of the trail/obstacle course clinic. Such a confidence builder for her. Thanks Mark.

Falling in love with my new horse, The Cowboy, was so easy. But finding that he thought “outside” was something we passed through to get from the barn to the arena came as a bit of a shock! Didn’t all top show horses know how to ride calmly across the open fields? Obviously not this one. Time to call in my friend and expert...Mark Lyon.
Handing Mark the reins was another easy decision, they were going into capable hands. His experience handling not only horses but their high maintenance owners is legendary. Mark is skilled at understanding that the horses does indeed have a stake in the game and gives them the opportunity to express them selves naturally. His methods are consistent, understandable, and effective. Asking him “How long will this take?” gets a response from Mark “It will take as long as it takes”, that worked for me and The Cowboy. This is someone we could both trust. The Cowboy did live up to his name and we have had many wonderful rides out. When my young horse, The Cub, was ready Mark took him on his first “outside” adventures. When Miranda and I watched them come back down my road....I swear they were both smiling! The Cub would have gone across the country with Mark on board. Many are called, but few are chosen to become one with the horse. Mark is one of the few.
